The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards kick off Sunday, August 28, and all of the music industry’s biggest names are ready to strut their stuff for the show. Check out where Britney Spears, Kanye West, Tyga and other celebs will settle in for the night.
Britney Spears
Call it a comeback. Spears is set to perform at this year’s awards show, her first time taking the stage at the VMAs in nearly a decade. Fittingly, the pop star, 34, will be seated just in front of her “Make Me …” collaborator, rapper G-Eazy (who will, in turn, be rubbing shoulders with Jaden Smith).
Kanye West
West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, will be — understandably — taking the best seats in the house at the VMAs this year, sitting in the front row. In fact, according to TMZ, the “Famous” rapper, 39, will even be given the stage for four minutes to “do as he pleases” before he performs. Anyone placing bets on what he’s gonna say?
Nicki Minaj
Minaj and Ariana Grande aren’t just performing “Side to Side” together on stage at the 2016 VMAs, they’re also sitting side by side in the audience when they’re cooling their heels from what will no doubt be a fi-yah performance.
Michael Phelps
Who said the VMAs are just for industry folk? The 23-time Olympic gold medalist will be taking in the high-energy celebrations from his seat just behind Alicia Keys and Nick Jonas. Fingers crossed that baby Boomer makes an appearance!
The Final Five
The names Simone Biles, Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian should sound familiar by now, given that the five athletes made headline after headline for dominating at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Now, the fierce Olympians will take on another frontier: the 2016 VMAs.
