Nope. Donald Trump weighed in on Dwyane Wade’s cousin’s tragic shooting death with a tweet on Saturday, August 27, and Twitter was quick to slam the presidential hopeful for his insensitive message.
“Dwayne Wade’s cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago,” the Republican nominee tweeted, misspelling the NBA star’s name. “Just what I’ve been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!”
On Friday, August 26, Wade’s 32-year-old cousin, Nykea Aldridge, was shot and killed in broad daylight after she was accidentally caught in the crossfire of a shooting between two men in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood of Chicago.
Wade, 34, tweeted several messages to mourn Aldridge’s death, using the hashtag “#EnoughIsEnough.”
“My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence,” he tweeted Friday. “4 kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.”
On Saturday, he continued his call for action with a series of emotional tweets. “The city of Chicago is hurting. We need more help & more hands on deck. Not for me and my family but for the future of the world. The YOUTH!”
Trump’s remarks sparked a deluge of comments from Twitter users who called out the 70-year-old real estate mogul for using the situation for his personal benefit. The former reality TV star has been actively courting the African American vote over the past week by saying minority communities face increased violence and danger, and telling black voters they should support him because, “What the hell do you have to lose?”
Didn’t you say Clinton shouldn’t use deaths of Blacks for her political gain?

.@realDonaldTrump So we’re clear: You took the time to delete this because of the misspelling, but didn’t reconsider ANY OF THE OTHER PARTS?

the cap locked words say it all – you don’t care about anyone but yourself. You are a sad human being.

Shortly after he posted the first tweet on Saturday, Trump deleted the original and reposted it several minutes later — with the correct spelling of Wade’s name.
He also later posted this: “My condolences to Dwyane Wade and his family, on the loss of Nykea Aldridge. They are in my thoughts and prayers,” though Twitter users weren’t buying his belated sentiments.
“Too late, f–kwit,” one user wrote.
