A roller coaster of emotions! After This Is Us revealed in last week’s episode that patriarch Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) is no longer among the living, the NBC drama continues to tug at our heartstrings, and we’re loving every minute of it.
Us Weekly recently chatted with star Sterling K. Brown (Randall) at the GOOD+ Foundation’s Halloween Bash, where the Emmy-winning actor revealed some juicy spoilers for the rest of the season, including how the siblings really feel about stepfather Miguel ending up with their mom, Rebecca (Mandy Moore). And click here for our exclusive interview with Justin Hartley (Kevin)!
It’s not all smooth sailing for the Big Three
We can expect a little tension among Kevin, Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall in future episodes, Brown promises. “They’re brothers — they’re brothers and sister,” the actor explains. “And they get along like [that]. They grew. They love each other. But they have their arguments. They have their disagreements. They’re three children that have very different needs.”
Tension stems from fighting for their parents’ notice
According to Brown, the siblings will butt heads as they strive to be the favorite. “They’re always sort of battling for attention from their parents, some more successfully than others,” he reveals. “You’ll see a little bit of that resentment bubble to the surface in future episodes.”
You might not end up hating Miguel as much as you think you will
Brown can be counted among the members of Team Miguel: “You know what? Miguel is cool. [Laughs] I think all Randall, Kate and Kevin are cool with Miguel. It’s sort of interesting when your dad’s best friend now becomes your stepparent.”
Miguel definitely has some enemies
Randall might have a solid relationship with his stepfather, but the same cannot be said for everyone in the family. “I think some of us are more antagonistic towards Miguel than others, and Randall is not the most antagonistic,” Brown says. “I can say that much.”
