Keeping her lips zipped. Paris Hilton refused to say whether she voted for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, who is a longtime family friend.
The 35-year-old reality star turned entrepreneur was vague when questioned about her vote by a TMZ cameraman as she arrived to Los Angeles’ LAX airport to catch a Tuesday, November 8, flight to Mexico City for the launches of her 20th fragrance, Gold Rush, and her new shoe line.
While Hilton confirmed that she indeed cast her ballot ahead of Election Day, the Simple Life alum was mum about which candidate won her vote.
“My mother [Kathy Hilton] told me to never talk about politics or money,” Paris said, to which the TMZ reporter replied, “But you don’t listen to everything your mother says.”
The “Stars Are Blind” singer responded, “I do about that!”
“I hope the best person wins,” she coyly told TMZ. The cameraman then said, “If you don’t tell me who you’re voting for, I’m going to assume it’s Trump, right?”
Paris remained silent, flashing a slight smile and letting out a small giggle.
As fans are well aware, the Hilton and Trump families have been close for years. The ex-Celebrity Apprentice host launched Paris’ modeling career in the early 2000s by signing her to Trump Model Management.
The real estate tycoon, who is holding a postelection rally at a New York City Hilton hotel on Tuesday night, expressed his appreciation for the socialite in a blurb of praise that was printed on the back of her 2004 book, Confessions of an Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose.
“I have known Paris Hilton for much of her young life and have always recognized her as a great beauty,” he wrote at the time. “What people don’t know is that she is a great beauty on the inside as well.”
Just one year before endorsing her literary attempts, Trump made uncomfortable comments about Paris during a 2003 interview with Howard Stern.
“I’ve known Paris Hilton from the time she’s 12,” Trump said on Stern’s radio show, adding that he had seen her infamous sex tape, 1 Night in Paris, because his wife, Melania Trump, showed it to him. “Her parents are friends of mine, and the first time I saw her she walked into a room and I said, ‘Who the hell is that?’”
Asked if he “wanted to bang” Paris at the time, the billionaire businessman said, “She’s a very … Well, at 12 I wasn’t interested. I’ve never been into that. They’ve sort of always stuck around that 25 category.”
