Making their voices heard. Thousands of protesters across the nation took to the streets on Wednesday, November 9, in response to Donald Trump’s presidency, with chants of “not my president” — and this is likely just the beginning.
Protests erupted in at least 10 major U.S. cities, including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Portland, Oregon, and others, with citizens gathering to march and express their anger and frustration over Trump’s win.
In each city, protesters aimed their anger toward Trump buildings: In NYC, thousands made their way to the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue to make their voices heard; in Washington, D.C., signs reading “Nasty Women Fight Back” and “White Males for Equality for All” were spotted in crowds protesting outside the Trump International Hotel.
Los Angeles protesters burned an effigy of the president-elect outside Los Angeles City Hall and even marched onto the 101 Freeway to block traffic Thursday morning.
For those interested in taking part — or for those who prefer to steer clear — here’s a comprehensive list (courtesy of Complex) of where more Trump protests will be taking place this week:
