Ready for the next step? Danielle and Adam Busby have a big decision to make regarding daughter Hazel‘s eye condition on OutDaughtered‘s season 2 premiere, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The TLC unscripted series focuses on Danielle and Adam and their six kids, including the country’s only set of all-female quintuplets. In the preview clip, the parents learn that baby Hazel is likely to require eye surgery, a procedure that carries a 1-in-100,000 risk of permanent vision loss.
“To most people, that would sound like, ‘Man, that’s pretty good odds,'” Adam tells the camera. “But then whenever you think of our situation, our chance of having all-girl quintuplets was 1 in 64 million. And so odds don’t really do it for us now.”
After the doctor points out that the surgery doesn’t need to take place immediately, although getting it out of the way would be optimal for Hazel’s development, Danielle feels at a crossroads.
“The hardest part about it is that she is so small, and she can’t physically tell us what she actually sees or how this really affects her, and that’s part of us as parents to have to make these decisions,” Danielle says to the camera. “But it’s just a tough one to make when you consider surgery. I just don’t like it.”
