Slime time! Blake Shelton — who announced on the Today show on Monday, Nov. 9, that he will be hosting the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards — is looking forward to getting green goo poured on him.
“I just want to get slimed!” The Voice coach, 39, told hosts Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford of his upcoming gig. “I want to do this thing with kids, it’s fun. My agent called and asked me if there was anything I wanted to do, and I had been thinking, ‘I want to host those Kids’ Choice Awards.’”
The country superstar also revealed the reason why he’s so excited to host the show.
“I’ve been on countless stages throughout my life, but none have promised the madness, excitement, and endless slime as Nick’s Kids’ Choice Awards, which is undoubtedly the ultimate party for kids,” Shelton said in a release. “There is only one team here, and it’s Team Kids’ Choice!”
Gwen Stefani’s new boyfriend first teased the big announcement on Twitter on Sunday, Nov. 8, writing, “I’ve got something BIG to announce tomorrow. #shocking #staytuned.”
The 2016 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards are set to air on March 12.
