UPDATE: Blake Shelton announced that he will be the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards host and is looking forward to getting slimed. The show will air on March 12, toward the end of the country singer’s upcoming tour.
Original Story: It seems that Blake Shelton is basking in the glow of his new relationship with Gwen Stefani and the positive buzz it has brought him. On Sunday, Nov. 8, The Voice coach, 39, teased a big announcement to his 14.2 million Twitter followers.
“Just when things were about to quiet down around here… I’ve got something BIG to announce tomorrow. #shocking #staytuned,” he tweeted, later noting that fans should tune into Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford’s segment of the Today show on Monday, Nov. 9, for the details. “No chance y’all are gonna guess this one. It’s just WAY too insane…”
He remained vague on what this big announcement might be, but when one fan asked for new music, he replied, “That’s not it!” Another follower joked that the singer might be pregnant, which prompted the Oklahoma funnyman to respond, “Ha!!!!! No I just look like it..”
Someone else suggested he was marrying his Voice costar and longtime pal Adam Levine, to which Shelton responded, “No weddings on the horizon!!!”
Finally, a follower asked if the news was professional or personal, to which he gave the telling answer, “It’s a combination of the two… Hmmmm… Got you thinking now huh?”
This response could mean that Shelton will be teaming up with Stefani, 46, for a new project. But since he already noted that his announcement has nothing to do with new music, fans are only left to guess.
The new couple exclusively confirmed their relationship to Us Weekly (via Stefani’s rep) just hours before the Country Music Association Awards last Wednesday. Shelton and his ex-wife Miranda Lambert both performed at the event, and Stefani came to Nashville, Tenn., to attend some afterparties with her new man.
