Lamar Odom’s condition continues to be critical as new reports reveal that the NBA star suffered a dozen strokes early on in his medical emergency that affected his ability to both walk and talk.
According to TMZ, doctors discovered the strokes — and their impact on his motor skills — after performing a series of brain scans. Odom will likely have to undergo months of physical therapy, though doctors cannot yet determine whether or not he will ever fully recover.
The 35-year-old athlete is also suffering from major kidney failure, and is currently on dialysis, the site reports.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Odom’s estranged wife Khloe Kardashian has been at his side since he was first rushed the hospital on Tuesday, Oct. 13, after being found unconscious at legal brothel Love Ranch South, and a source tells Us that the reality star is “very concerned” about the basketball player.
“She sleeps in the ICU with him,” the source says.
Adds a second source, “Khloe’s not really responding to friends who’ve reached out; I think she’s just in a bubble with her family right now.”
Odom was recently airlifted to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Hospital on Monday, Oct. 19, after being treated at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. His doctors have since banned all visitors except for Kardashian, 31.
On Thursday, Odom had to undergo two emergency surgeries for chest issues that left him in a “fragile mental state,” a source told TMZ.
“Lamar is not out of the woods,” the second source exclusively told Us. “I think it’s still really touch and go.”
