Give the man what he wants! After clearly being rejected by his good pal Jimmy Fallon, a hopeful Justin Timberlake met with Seth Meyers to pitch theme song ideas… err, idea for his late-night show.
In a funny new video posted by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, Sept. 21, Timberlake's presentation, however, backfires — and with good reason.
In it, Meyers, 41, receives an office visit from Timberlake, who has lofty goals for his already high-flying career. "Despite my many accomplishments, and I've accomplished a lot," Jessica Biel's husband notes. "The one thing I haven't done, I haven't written a theme song for a late-night talk show. And since… you are my favorite talk show host, I wrote something up for you."
(As many fans are already aware, Timberlake, 34, is super close with Fallon, whose Tonight Show precedes Meyers' Late Night on the network. In fact, the singer stopped by Fallon's program earlier this past month, where he shared photos of his adorable son, Silas, and performed the History of Rap 6.)
A flattered and tickled Meyers, though, gives Timberlake the opportunity to prove himself otherwise. The "Mirrors" singer then launches into the theme song, but as it turns out… it's not exactly catered to the Late Night host.
"When you're looking for fun on your TV, just switch it on over to NBC," sings Timberlake. "And catch the show that's down and dirty, on every night at 11:30." (Meyers' show is on at 12:35 a.m. ET.) "Hosted by your number one guy, it's J to the I to the M-M-Y."
Slowly, Meyers' big grin wanes.
