It was the snotty exit interview heard ‘round the world. On Monday, June 22, Ian left The Bachelorette and star Kaitlyn Bristowe behind, spouting off angry declarations as his town car drove off into the sunset.
“I’m being punished for being an intellectual,” he claimed. “They didn’t teach cheesy music quotes at Princeton. I don’t find that women have trouble relating to me because I’m too deep. Seeing how badly Kaitlyn’s been at being The Bachelorette, I feel like I know what it takes to be The Bachelor.”
Luckily, Kaitlyn still had plenty of studly hunks to sweep her off her feet and was able to quickly move on (and into Nick Viall’s arms). On Tuesday, June 23, Bristowe answered a Yahoo Facebook fan Q&A, where, naturally, many of the questions involved the Princeton grad’s condescending exit.
One fan asked, “Do you lie awake at night sobbing about how you let Ian slip your fingers?,” to which Bristowe replied, “haha, you’re funny.”
She also revealed that Ians’ offensive exit interviews came as a complete surprise to her as she watched the show live last night. And when asked which of the guys surprised her most thus far, she responded, “IAN.. what gives.”
But Bristowe remained positive about the whole incident, noting, “Ian did enough damage to himself, made it easy on me.”
And when another follower asked, “How did you not slap Ian after he said those thing to you?” she joked, “I just mentally slapped him.”
