It’s been almost eight years since Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag’s friendship dissolved before our very eyes on The Hills. Though the details remained vague on the hit MTV reality series, it was implied in the show’s third season that Montag, 28, and her then-boyfriend Spencer Pratt fabricated a story that Conrad, 29, and her then-boyfriend Jason Wahler had made a sex tape.
When Conrad confronted her ex-roommate and former pal Montag about the claims, there was an epic drunken meltdown outside of a Los Angeles nightclub, caught for all The Hills’ cameras to see. From that point on, it was LC vs. Speidi, making the couple one of the most villainous in reality TV history.
Now Pratt and Montag are working on their marriage and relationships on the WE tv series Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars. In a newly released clip, Montag is going through a therapy session surrounding her damaged relationship with the best-selling author.
Though Conrad didn’t appear on the show, a tearful Montag improvised with an unknown brunette, whom she directly addressed as “Lauren.”
“I was the best friend you’ve ever had,” she said crying. “Lauren, I forgive you for being so insecure in your life and so frustrated for everything that you went through that you felt like you had to blame it on me because that was easier. I forgive you for trying to ruin my life.”
When asked if she completely forgave her former friend, Montag firmly said, “I forgive you for everything. I just don’t want to have this with you anymore. I do love you despite everything you’ve done for me. I do.”
Conrad attended Montag’s 2009 wedding to Pratt in the fifth season, which marked her final appearance on the show.
