Fifty Shades of cray! Middle school students in Pennsylvania were recently handed erotic Fifty Shades of Grey puzzles, and their parents lodged a complaint against the school district on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
According to Pittsburgh's local ABC affiliate, parents brought up the incident during a Monessen School District board meeting.
Parents of the tweens claimed their children were handed puzzles based on E L James' racy S&M novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The word search puzzles included words like "bondage," "submissive," "leather cuffs," and "spanking."
While the culprit who handed the students these risqué puzzles remains unknown, school district officials have been investigating the mystery since Monday.
"I asked my son who passed it out, and he said the teacher passed it out," parent James Carter told the local ABC station. "I don't think this is what they should be doing in the 8th grade level."
Carter also told the Associated Press that he attempted to question the principal about the racy puzzle received by his son, but they would not speak when the father attempted to record their conversation.
Meanwhile, the film adaptation of the erotic best-selling novel starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson hits theaters on Friday, Feb. 13.
