This time, he let Beck finish! Kanye West restrained himself at the 2015 Grammys … well, sort of. When Beck shocked viewers and musicians alike by winning Album of the Year for Morning Phase, the “Only One” rapper, 37, jumped onto the stage and turned toward the crowd, before thinking better of it and sitting back down.
The move was identical to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when West interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech, saying, “Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
Beyonce‘s self-titled visual album — arguably a frontrunner in the race — was up for the Grammy that Beck won, making West’s actions even more comical.
After the 21-time Grammy winner hopped off the stage, Beck declared, “I need some help!” and his collaborators joined him at the podium.
It was a big night for Kim Kardashian‘s husband who performed twice on the Grammys stage for the first time in six years, first singing his new single “Only One” before joining Paul McCartney and Rihanna for her new hit “FourFiveSeconds.”
