What would Salazar Slytherin say? Tom Felton, the actor who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, revealed a shocking allegiance this week.
The British star, 27, tweeted on Wednesday, Jan. 21, that he had joined Pottermore, author J.K. Rowling‘s online destination for Harry Potter enthusiasts. The site allows fans to try on a virtual sorting hat, finding their place in the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“Today was the day,” Felton began dramatically. “I finally did it.”
“I joined Pottermore and was sorted into……..Gryffindor,” revealed the actor, whose character Draco was famously a leader in the Slytherin house. “Heart broken x #slytherinforlife.” Find out more about Felton’s pick.
While the sorting clearly came as a surprise to Felton, Rowling herself shared that she expected the result.
“.@TomFelton I could’ve told you that years ago,” she tweeted. “I just didn’t want to spoil your motivation ;)”
Felton went on to share a photo of the moment when his true house identity was revealed, posting a shot of himself gazing at a computer screen with his sorting of Gryffindor. “Oh bollocks! x,” he captioned the photo.
The former child star appeared in all eight Harry Potter films, making his debut as a young teenager in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. In the years since the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 in 2011, Felton has gone on to book television roles in Labyrinth, Full Circle, and Murder in the First, and movie gigs with From the Rough, In Secret, and Against the Sun.
