Red, white, it's true! Red Velvet Oreos will be available starting Feb. 2, a Nabisco rep confirmed to Us Weekly on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
The limited edition of the classic black and white sweet is the first Oreo to have a completely new cookie color since the Golden Oreo's 2004 debut. Other unique flavors that have previously been introduced by the brand include last Halloween's Candy Corn rendition, as well as Watermelon, Ice Cream, Caramel Apple, and Birthday Cake.
The new Red Velvet Oreo boasts of a cream cheese filling stuffed between two red-tinged chocolate cookies. The fact sheet claims that the spin-off "embodies a mix of the chocolate Oreo cookie taste fans love with a cream cheese-flavored crème for red velvet fanatics."
Cookie and Oreo enthusiasts, naturally, freaked out across the Internet on Tuesday, shortly after the announcement was made. Scandal actress Kerry Washington put down the popcorn and directed her costar Katie Lowes to one story.
