The Real Thing according to Jill Scott. The singer weighed in on Bill Cosby‘s ongoing scandal on Monday, Dec. 1, slamming Twitter followers and the media for ruining the embattled comedian’s “magnificent legacy.”
Scott, 42, received an honorary degree from Cosby in early 2014 at Temple University, the comic’s alma mater in Philadelphia.
While responding to tweets on her personal account, Scott made the bold decision to publicly defend the beleaguered Cosby Show star. Almost immediately, followers questioned Scott’s comments. The singer, however, still maintained her stance on Cosby’s alleged innocence in the face of numerous allegations of rape.
@SimplyBerry u know Bill Cosby? I do child and this is insane. Proof. Period.

Rape is a despicable, cowardly crime. If you’ve been raped- plz do NOT shower, go to police IMMEDIATELY, have a rap kit done. GET EVIDENCE.

About 20 women have come forward, accusing Cosby, now 77, of sexually assaulting them in the past. This past weekend, supermodel Janice Dickinson gave an emotional interview to CNN recalling a 1982 incident when Cosby allegedly drugged and raped her.
“I would like Cosby to come out and at least acknowledge that he is a pig, he is a monster, and he raped me,” Dickinson told CNN.
