The end is near. Stephen Collins and his estranged wife Faye Grant are scheduled to begin their divorce trial on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in L.A. The legal battle between the spouses of 27 years comes after a leaked recording was posted online last month of the veteran 7th Heaven actor allegedly confessing to child molestation.
The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, and New York Police Department subsequently opened investigations after the audio was posted to TMZ.
Collins' career was also immediately destroyed, with the actor being fired from his upcoming movie Ted 2, as well as cut from upcoming appearances on ABC's smash drama Scandal. Reruns of his beloved WB family show were also removed from multiple networks, and Collins, 67, was eventually dropped by his agency.
The focus of the trial will be division of assets between the spouses. According to the Associated Press, Grant is seeking $13,000 a month in spousal support. Meanwhile, Collins' attorney claims his client's career has been damaged after the recordings surfaced, further requesting the removal of all future payments.
Actress Grant, 57, released a statement to Us through her lawyer, claiming that she had nothing to do with the leaked recording. Her comments were made after Collins' attorney claimed that she had tried to extort money from her ex.
"With regard to the divorce proceedings, I am seeking no more than that to which I am legally entitled under the laws of the State of California," Grant told Us.
