America, take some time to admire your new View! Less than two weeks after being named The View‘s newest co-hosts after a long-awaited and contentious audition process, Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace made their first appearance alongside View veterans Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg during a promotional shoot.
As this behind-the-scenes video shows, the women appear to be getting along well at first blush, though time will tell just how Do The Right Thing actress Perez, 50, and conservative political commentator Wallace, 42, do when faced with the Hot Topics on The View‘s Sept. 15 premiere.
“I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I’ve been asked to join The View,” Perez told Us Weekly in a statement following her Sept. 4 co-host appointment. “Knowing that I’ll be in the company of Whoopi, Rosie and Nicolle, three very smart and engaging women that I have an immense amount of respect for, makes it even more unbelievable.”
Perez and Wallace will assume the co-host chairs left vacant by Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, who abruptly left the series in June. Show creator Barbara Walters retired during season 17 after a five-decades-long TV career.
