Five looks fit for a duchess!
Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton announced that she’s pregnant with her second child on Sept. 8, and if we learned anything at all from her first pregnancy with Prince George, we know that this is a lady whose maternity style is wonderfully chic.
That’s why we took special note yesterday at New York Fashion Week, when Jenny Packham, one of Prince William’s wife’s favorite designers, debuted her spring/summer 2015 collection, to see what she might be wearing over the next few months. And what options Prince George’s mom has!
Inspired by Marilyn Monroe, as Packham told Style.com, the spring collection boasts true Old Hollywood Glam. That means that the 39-piece collection features a mix of sweeping ball gowns and ‘50s-esque, knee-length sheaths, many with floral appliqués and all designed to show off a woman’s curves.
While all the looks were glamorous—some actually glittered with jewels—there were five looks in particular that we could (and hope!) to see the Duchess of Cambridge in soon. So, without further ado, and with fashion plate’s pretty face on top of each for better visualization, here are our top picks:
This raspberry pink dress with a mermaid skirt (top of the page) boasts a sheer overlay, with floral appliqués sewn into it from the collar to the hem. (Especially great to secretly let us know if she’s having a girl!)
Black but not boring! For a daytime affair, this smooth midnight sheath, with a sheer neckline that features embroidered palettes, would be a classy choice for a public appearance with Prince William.
This velvet number, with a cowl neck and long sleeves, would be the perfect look for a sophisticated evening in the cold. The soft material will keep the Duchess of Cambridge warm. Plus, the belted waist lets the Duchess loosen it as needed.
This baby blue column, a touch retro with its off-the-shoulder neckline, literally sparkles thanks to its bejeweled accessories. (Still can’t compete with her sapphire ring, though!)
And finally, this last look is a timeless ball gown, just as lovely during Packham’s muse Marilyn’s time in the ‘50s as it is today. And, as it looks like a design we’ve seen the royal in once before, we think it could be a serious contender!
