Chris Rock hosted the BET Awards on Sunday, June 29, and no one was safe from the funny man's onstage jibes.
Rock, 49, opened the awards show in Los Angeles, which he called "the black World Cup," by joking about Solange and her notorious elevator incident with her sister Beyonce and Beyonce's husband Jay Z.
"What happened in music this year?" Rock quipped. "Well, Solange had a fight with Jay Z in the elevator. That's what happened this year."
"You know what, Solange hit the right rapper," the comedian continued. "She did, she hit the right rapper. Everybody is like, 'I can't believe Jay didn't smack her!' Well, Jay is a businessman now, he can't just go punching girls in the face. He got a meeting with Nabisco in the morning!"
"She hit Blueprint 3 Jay Z," Rock added. "Cause Reasonable Doubt Jay Z… if she hit Reasonable Doubt, that elevator would've been filled up with nothing but lipstick, blood, and weave. That's music, baby."
The actor went on to riff on disgraced NBA owner Donald Sterling. "The biggest news this year out of all black news was Donald Sterling," Rock explained. "Now, let me get this straight. An 83-year-old white man doesn't like black people. Is that news? Come on!"
"First of all, a black man couldn't look him in the eye 'till he was 45," he joked. "The first black man he ever met, he got for Christmas. And don't make me defend Donald Sterling. What exactly did he say? What exactly did Donald Sterling say: 'I don't want my woman around black basketball players.' Me neither! Are you kidding me? Who the hell wants their woman around black basketball players? And I'm specific to black ball players. I don't care if my woman was with JJ Redick, Mike Dunleavy, David Lee, but if I see you with Serge Ibaka, we gotta talk."
Later in the show, which included appearances by Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, and Chris Brown, among others, Rock took a page out of Ellen DeGeneres' book. During the 2014 Oscars, DeGeneres famously ordered pizza to the awards show, with a deliveryman handing out slices to the stars near the front row. Rock put a spin on her move, giving the audience at the BET Awards Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles.
Other celebs who provided fodder for Rock included Rick Ross, Kerry Washington, and Paris Hilton, of whom he said, "You're getting your Kardashian on tonight!" and added when handing out the chicken and waffles, "Paris Hilton, you want to be black tonight, right? Here you go!"
After the snacks, Rock tweeted, "I had to give Paris Hilton some extra syrup for her chicken and waffles."
