The end of Chrismukkah wouldn’t be as brutal as this. It’s been seven years since the series finale of The O.C., and now fan favorite Adam Brody is revealing where he thinks his character Seth Cohen would be today. (And unfortunately, he’s not just sailing away with Summer Roberts.)
“If I had to predict, I’d say Seth Cohen is dead,” Brody, 34, said in Nylon magazine’s February issue. “I think he’d be going down to Mexico and probably had a bad car accident. It wasn’t any fault of his own, but yeah, knowing what I know now about Seth and his poor decision-making, that’s my guess.”
The scene the actor has imagined may as well have been taken out of creator Josh Schwartz’s script. In the show’s Season 3 finale, Mischa Barton’s character Marissa Cooper (spoiler!) also died in a car crash. (Cue Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek.”)
Even though fans will probably now cry for Sandy and Kirsten Cohen’s loss, Brody tried to offer up a consolation. “I mean, he’s probably hanging out in heaven watching Jimi Hendrix and Lou Reed live,” he continued of the emo teenager. “He’s probably getting the best concert ever!”
Brody — who’s now engaged to Gossip Girl alum Leighton Meester — starred in the FOX series for four seasons with then-up-and-comers Ben McKenzie, Barton, and Rachel Bilson, who was his love interest both on and off screen at the time.
