Miley Cyrus believes her provocative, buzzworthy MTV Video Music Awards performance back in late August was a once in a lifetime moment. Watch it here.
In a new interview backstage at Power 96.1's Jingle Ball on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in Atlanta, the "Wrecking Ball" crooner addressed her breakout moment of 2013. "Everyone else's, I think, biggest moment of me was the VMAs," she said in the sit-down interview with Sonic. "That was probably my biggest moment, too," she explained. "I was pretty stoked to perform there."
Does this mean a potential return to next year's stage at the awards show? "I doubt they're ever gonna ask me back," joked Cyrus. "But just kidding… I don't know."
The memorable showdown with Robin Thicke went down nearly a month before Cyrus released her Bangerz album in October. "That was before my record even came out, so I mean, it was the beginning of what I was showing people what i was gonna do," the "We Can't Stop" singer shared. Since that moment, Cyrus has released her nude "Wrecking Ball" music video and taken over stages worldwide in body-baring outfits.
"It kind of just opened so many doors for me to be like, alright, I already pissed you off as much as I possibly can," she said of her life post-VMAs. "So, now I can kind of just be freer and kind of do whatever it is that we want to do."
As reported Thursday morning, Cyrus will perform live at Times Square on New Year's Eve. Ryan Seacrest, who confirmed the news to Jimmy Kimmel, explained of her addition to the annual fete's lineup: "We try to look for the artist that's created a lot of buzz and had a really big year," the host said.
