He's back in the game! Lamar Odom is expected to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, sources confirm to Us Weekly. Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband has already had meetings and met with some of the players. Yahoo! Sports also reports that Odom met with members of its management for two hours on Friday, Nov. 15.
"It was the best deal and he's happy to go back," an insider tells Us. Another source adds: "Lamar is training and in good shape." To top it off, he's also been in talks with the Lakers. (Odom was previously traded by the Miami Heat to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004. In December 2011, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and then went on to play for the Clippers in the 2012-2013 NBA season.)
In recent months, the basketball player's struggle with drug abuse and his marriage woes with the reality star, 29, have gone public. But earlier this month, Odom, 34, was spotted looking healthy and happy with his wife of four years.
"Khloe and Lamar started talking again," a source told Us of the couple. "Over the last few days they started talking all the time. So she invited him to Kris [Jenner's] birthday party [on Nov. 6]. He had a great time." The source added: "He's doing so much better."
As for his substance abuse struggles, the team isn't worried about it. "The teams aren't concerned about the drug use," the second insider tells Us. "If he stays mentally focused he can help [to] win games."
