Only the best for the royal baby! Expectations were high for the Prince of Cambridge’s big debut on Tuesday, July 23 — and he did not disappoint. Meeting his already-adoring public for the very first time just after 7 p.m. local time, Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s day-old son looked cozy and safe in a swaddle fit for a (future) king.
Of course, this wasn’t just any swaddle — this was an aden+anais 100 percent cotton muslin swaddle with a printed bird design, chosen from the company’s “Jungle Jam” four-pack. (Started in New York by an Australian woman, aden+anais is the swaddle of choice for many celeb moms, including Hilary Duff, Jessica Alba, Beyonce, Kristen Bell, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and Anna Paquin.)
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 31, beamed as they showed off their newborn son to the hundreds of well-wishers outside St. Mary’s Hospital. “He’s got her looks, thankfully,” William quipped of the little prince, who was born on Monday, July 22, at 4:34 p.m.
After chatting briefly with reporters, the royal couple returned to the Lindo Wing. When they re-emerged a few minutes later, the baby was securely strapped into a BRITAX baby-safe infant carrier for his first car ride ever.
“BRITAX, as a British brand and the leader in child travel safety, are delighted and honored to hear that the Prince of Cambridge is making his first journey in one of our infant carriers,” European managing director Ian Watson told Us Weekly in a statement. “We send our warmest wishes of health and happiness to TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they begin their exciting journey into parenthood.”
