Us Weekly readers named Gwyneth Paltrow their Celebrity Style Crush for the week of June 24, 2013, and it’s no surprise her casual chic summer streetwear wins raves. After all, the actress and mom of two is rarely out and about without her “uniform” of white tees, jeans and neutral wardrobe basics. On the red carpet, however, Paltrow, 40, isn’t afraid to take more daring sartorial risks.
“Gwyneth manages to bridge the gap of glamour and modernity,” designer Antonio Berardi — who created the revealing dress with sheer paneling that Paltrow wore, without underwear, to the April 24 Iron Man 3 premiere in Hollywood — told Grazia magazine. “She makes things look iconic!”
Just as the buzz from fashion critics and fans alike over her Antonio Berardi gown — and lack of undergarments — reached fever pitch, Paltrow pulled a fashion 360 at the 2013 MET Gala.
Tamer than many of her peers’ punk-themed outfits, Paltrow’s hot pink Valentino Haute Couture Corolle gown was feminine, pretty and pulled-together — the picture of glamour. “I guess it’s punk in that I’ve gone just totally classic on a punk night,” Paltrow told Vogue.com at the event. (Paltrow later admitted that the annual fashion fete was “so un-fun” and that she’d “never [be] going again.”)
The hot pink frock is only one of Paltrow’s recent fashion highlights. In October 2012, the actress stunned in Michael Kors’ sexy cut-out, sleeveless LBD that accentuated her cleavage and showed off her ultra-toned arms. Paltrow, who works out with celeb trainer Tracy Anderson, accessorized her outfit with white pumps and a black clutch handbag.
Sums up Paltrow’s stylist: “This girl has taste, this girl has confidence.”
