Santa Claus is coming to Neil Patrick Harris’ house! The How I Met Your Mother alum, 45, revealed that his 8-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper, still believe in St. Nick — and he doesn’t see that changing any time soon.
“My kids are surrounded by other kids who are questioning the existence of Santa Claus,” Harris told Us Weekly at the new FAO Schwarz flagship store in NYC on November 15. “I sort of say, ‘Isn’t it true that once you stop believing in Santa Claus, then Santa Claus stops delivering your present under the tree?’ Seems like it’s in everybody’s best interests to believe in Santa Claus.”
On Christmas Eve, the Emmy winner and his chef husband, David Burtka, will stick to tradition and do dinner with their children at an upscale Italian eatery in Manhattan. “They do the Feast of the Seven Fishes,” Harris told Us. “None of us have to do anything and our kids have great palates so they all enjoy that great food.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2014, will also take their second graders to see a production of The Nutcracker. “New York is a spectacular place to stay for the holidays,” Harris gushed. But Burtka, 43, was quick to note to Us that the family will most likely head someplace warm for New Year’s!
A week before Christmas, both sets of grandparents will come over for a pre-celebration. “We open and exchange gifts, which actually turns out nice,” Harris explained. “It extends the holiday.”
The A Series of Unfortunate Events star and Burtka also take Halloween very seriously. This year, the brood portrayed hitchhiking ghosts from The Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland.
