Philip Green, the CEO of shopping hotspots Topshop and Topman, really knows how to throw a party!
A source tells Us Weekly that to celebrate his 60th birthday March 16, the British billionaire flew down 150 guests, including A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio and girlfriend Erin Heatherton, Naomi Campbell, Kate Hudson and her hubby Matt Bellamy, Simon Cowell, Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and her hubby Chris Martin and Katherine Jenkins, to the Rosewood Mayakoba Resort at Playa del Carmen, which is located down the coast from Cancun.
For the entertainment, the businessman also flew down Robbie Williams, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Cee Lo Green, Chris Brown, Enrique Iglesias and Michael Buble to perform at the fete.
But Green’s 60th b-day bash wasn’t just an ordinary birthday celebration, because the partying spanned five days and four nights!
“The first night’s party had a The Artist movie theme and the next night was a Grecian toga party,” the source tells Us. “Friday night was the big 6-0 bash for Phillip and also [his daughter] Chloe’s 21st, which, for the second part of the night, took place in a specially built club called ‘Chloe’s Club.'”
During Wednesday night’s fete, a witness tells Us that Hudson and Paltrow were spotted hanging out together.
“They seemed to be in a serious conversation for a majority of the party,” the witness says.
Not one to ever skimp on elaborate and expensive details, Green made sure that his guests were drinking and eating like kings.
“Guests drank $500 bottles of Pol Roger Champagne — apparently over 2,000 bottles were flown out!” the source says. “Food from Japan was also flown out (including prime Kobe and Wagyu beef) and fireworks from London-based Fantastic Fireworks were also shipped over a month in advance.”
