Well, that's one way to make an impression!
On Wednesday's Top 11 American Idol performance round, Naima Adedapo took a giant risk putting a reggae twist on Elton John's classic "I'm Still Standing," making her routine one of the night's most buzzed-about numbers.
"That's who I am, that's part of my culture," Adedapo, 26, said after belting out a slowed-down version of the 1983 hit. "I felt it and it was great for me. Hopefully it's great for America!"
The Idol judges, however, weren't as convinced.
"I'm not sure this song was suited for that," Jennifer Lopez admitted. "I love you and I believe you're supposed to be still standing in this competition, [but] it was a better idea than payoff for me."
Added Randy Jackson: "I love reggae but it came off kind of corny and that's not you at all."
